Heavenly Jupiter's VS mode tutorials
By Reaper Angel at 2007-05-23 23:40
This is a little something that I learned on my own time: VS mode is, although the easiest format to battle in, is also your essential. There are three basic practice tutorials I have used to master the LF2 gameplay, and now I felt like sharing them with the rest of ya.
  1. Character Mastering- The best way to learn for a beginner is not by playing against a different character than your own but rather the same. Start with 1:1, for example Davis (you) VS Davis (com/independent). Once you know how to beat one, go further, such as Davis (you) VS Davis (com/team1) & Davis (com/team1). Repeat up until the maximum amount of opponents you can defeat. Then, overtime try and beat more and more, standard stuff. Do this with any character you wish to learn how to handle.
  2. Template Mastering- Template is not only a punching bag for noobs. He is an excellent trainer. Try taking on various amounts of other opponents (non-templates/bandits) using only a template. It will teach you speed, manuverability and quick close-quarters combat skills without using any other combos. Just don't overdo it. Take on from 1-4 powerfiul opponents with him tops, there's no point otherwise, since you don't possess any skills to dodge/backfire their attacks.
  3. Tourney Mastering- Try hosting a tournament for yourself. Start off with 3-5 opponents and pick your favorite character (that is not a boss, though you can if all your opponents are bosses). Each time you win, take one opposing player off, and increase difficulty. Each time you lose, add another opponent player and increase difficulty. Your goal is to reach zero opponents. Once you do, have a fight with characters in this order: Bat, Louis EX, Firzen, Julian. This lets you have the necessary training you'll need when facing human opponents, who are obviously a hell lot smarter than coms.
Hope I helped. Good luck!
