1. Determine your router's IP address. The best way to do this is to go to some site which tells you your IP. http://www.whatismyip.com/ Note: ipconfig or ipconfig /all most likely won't show your ip address. Your router ip address never starts in 192, 172, or 10.
2. Find your default gateway. For me, it's 192.168.0.1. That's a D-Link. For Linksys, it's usually 192.168.1.1. I can't remember others, but I'll check later. This is where ipconfig is useful. Go to start>run(aka windows key+r), type 'cmd', then type 'ipconfig /all'. Look at Default Gateway. You can cross-check with the values of DHCP or DNS as well.
3. Enter this into your browser (the number). If you did everything correctly, you should be able to access your router's control panel. You usually have a password and username. Ask your parents if you don't know. Or, it could be a default password if no one changed it. Look in your router manual in that case or search the internet for it. Usually it's something like username: admin.
4. Find Port Forwarding. It should be somewhere on your control panel. For me it's on Advanced>Virtual Server(I have a D-Link). If you really can't find it, google 'port forwarding'.
5. Open port 12345. This is the port LF2 uses. Open it for your computer. DHCP comes into play here.(I might get more detailed into this step later if many need help).
6. Play LF2 and give your opponent your real ip address we found in step one.
Notes: If it doesn't work still, you may have a firewall. I only have windows firewall and zonealarm, and both of them are really easy to configure, so there is no need for a guide on those. If you have another firewall though, you might need help. If it's a free one, I'll download it and find out how to make lf2 work through it.
